SALARY: FROM $90,887 TO $121,180, DEPENDING ON EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

Kativik Ilisarniliriniq (KI) is a school board offering educational services in the 14 communities of Nunavik. 

FUNCTION & DUTIES:

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Material Resources (Capital Investments), the Coordinator is responsible for the following tasks: coordination, supervision, evaluation and development of programs and activities related to the management and optimal use of KI’s material resources for major projects. The main responsibilities of the Coordinator include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate the implementation, management of minor and major capital infrastructure projects by evaluating costs, preparing the shipment of material and overseeing the status of work.
  • Manage expansion and new construction projects, from start to finish.
  • Plan and/or coordinate interactions between different stakeholders involved in capital infrastructure projects (school principal, maintenance team, contracted professionals (architects, engineers, laboratories, etc.), general contractors and subcontractors, etc.).
  • Supervise a team of project managers based in Montreal from KI and/or supervise contractors performing construction, expansion and/or renovation work.
  • Participate in the creation of KI’s objectives and strategies related to material resources and work closely with other staff members to establish an annual action plan.
  • Manage interactions with various stakeholders involved in capital infrastructure projects (principal, maintenance team, contracted professionals (architects, engineers, laboratories, etc.), general contractors and subcontractors, etc.
  • Travel frequently to Nunavik villages to oversee the status of work sites and ensure compliance with plans and specification by the different subcontractors.
  • Help prepare and follow up on Material Resources’ capital infrastructure budgets.
  • Supervise, mentor and manage employees under their responsibility.
  • Any other duties or tasks deemed relevant and necessary by the Assistant Director of Material Resources (Investment Projects).

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant field of study certifying a minimum three-year university program or hold a senior executive or senior staff position in a school board for which an undergraduate degree is required under the minimum qualifications.
  • Ten (10) years of relevant experience.

 

The Board may, at its discretion, waive any or all of the afore-mentioned qualification requirements if it finds a suitable candidate who is a beneficiary of the James Bay and Northern Québec Agreement and who accepts, as a condition of employment, to follow a training plan determined by the Board.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Fluency in two (2) of the three (3) official languages of KI (Inuktitut, English and French);
  • Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge and ability to develop a functional program for an elementary or secondary school.
  • Extensive knowledge of construction and renovation project management.
  • Previous experience in the management of major projects ($50M+) would be considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of the GIESS’s Maximo platform.
  • Good understanding of the Quebec Building Code and construction techniques in northern constructions.
  • Knowledge of the Act respecting contracting by public bodies.
  • Be able to travel frequently to Nunavik, as needed.
  • Must hold a valid driver’s licence.

 

CLASSIFICATION / SALARY / BENEFITS:

Class 00-08* as per the working conditions of KI’s managers: from $90,887 to $121,180 annually depending on qualifications and experience. All benefits are prorated based on the percentage of the task.
