Kativik Ilisarniliriniq (KI) is a school board offering educational services in the 14 communities of Nunavik.
Are you a teacher currently finishing your degree? Or a qualified teacher looking for a new challenge in your career? If yes, we are the school board for you!
We are looking for dedicated special education teachers to join our team. Ideal applicants will be passionate about working with primary and secondary students experiencing a variety of learning needs.
FUNCTIONS & DUTIES:
- Perform evaluations to determine students’ learning abilities and challenges.
- Develop individualized education plans (IEPs) based on the results of these evaluations and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
- Participate in the local special education committee.
- Design and implement a differentiated instruction program tailored to students’ specific needs.
- Employ various pedagogical methods and resources to enhance students’ learning experiences.
- Work in close collaboration with parents, tutors and other teachers and support staff to ensure that effective communication and support are provided for each student.
- Monitor students’ progress and personalize educational strategies to harmonize with their needs and promote student success.
- Create and keep detailed, up-to-date records of students’ achievements and difficulties.
- Stay informed about current trends, techniques and best practices in special education.
- Take part in professional development events and training sessions
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in special education, education or a specialization in a relevant field.
- “Brevet d’enseignement”, teaching permit or provisional teaching permit valid in Quebec or equivalent in another Canadian province.
- Masters in special education an asset
The Board may, at its discretion, waive any or all of the aforementioned qualification requirements if it finds a suitable candidate who is a beneficiary of the James Bay and Northern Québec Agreement and who agrees, as a condition of employment, to follow a training plan determined by the Board.
REQUIREMENTS:
Proficiency in the teaching language (English, French or Inuktitut).
CLASSIFICATION / SALARY / BENEFITS:
Salary & benefits as per the Teachers Collective Agreement of the Board: from $46,527 to $92,027 annually depending on experience and qualifications.
