POSITION: GRAPHIC ARTS TECHNICIAN

DEPARTMENT: EDUCATION SERVICES

SALARY: FROM $23.48 TO $29.40 AN HOUR DEPENDING ON EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

LOCATION: MONTREAL

STATUS: Full-time REPLACEMENT

DURATION: FROM FEBRUARY TO DECEMBER 2024, WITH POSSIBILITY OF EXTENSION

Kativik Ilisarniliriniq (KI) is a school board offering educational services in the 14 communities of Nunavik.

FUNCTION & DUTIES:

Under the supervision of the Director of Education Services, this position entails the development, coordination and creation of works in the area of graphic arts.

  • Oversee the production of pedagogical materials in Inuktitut and second language for Kativik Ilisarniliriniq
  • Oversee the work of other support staff on the production team
  • Perform the following production tasks:
  • Layout and typing of documents
  • Proofreading
  • Creation of graphics and illustrations by computer
  • Research for resource materials
  • Selection of production materials (binding, paper, etc)
  • Contact with curriculum writers
  • Quotes for outside production work
  • Maintain originals of Kativik Ilisarniliriniq materials;
  • Any other related duties as required by the supervisors.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

College diploma in graphic arts or a diploma or attestation of studies which is recognized as equivalent by the competent authority.

 

The Board may, at its discretion, waive any or all of the afore-mentioned qualifications if it finds a suitable candidate who is a beneficiary of the James Bay and Northern Québec Agreement (JBNQA) and who accepts, as a condition of employment, to follow a training plan determined by the Board.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Mastery of French and English- reading and writing;
  • Working knowledge of Inuktitut is an asset;
  • Excellent computer skills and familiarity with software needed for materials production;
  • Familiarity with Kativik Ilisarniliriniq programs and materials;
  • Experience in the production of materials;
  • Able to work in a team;
  • Strong organizational skills.

 

WORK SCHEDULE:      Monday to Friday, 35 hours/week.

 

CLASSIFICATION / SALARY / BENEFITS:

In accordance with the AENQ collective agreement for support staff, this position belongs to job category 4279: from $23.48 to $29.40 an hour depending on qualification and experience. All benefits are prorated based on the percentage of the task.
