Job Description

POSITION: EDUCATION CONSULTANT – NUNAVIK SIVUNITSAVUT

DEPARTMENT: POST-SECONDARY STUDENT SERVICES

SALARY: FROM $49,456 TO $92,027 DEPENDING ON EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

LOCATION: MONTREAL – NUNAVIK SIVUNITSAVUT

STATUS: FULL-TIME REGULAR

START DATE: OCTOBER 2024

Kativik Ilisarniliriniq (KI) is a school board offering educational services in the 14 communities of Nunavik.

FUNCTION & DUTIES:

Under the supervision of Coordinator of the Nunavik Sivunitsavut (NS) Program, the Education Consultant will:

  • Oversee curriculum development for the proposed French Nunavik Sivunitsavut certificate program;
  • Find French resources and teaching material for NS courses in French.
  • Research French Cégep requirements and special accreditation conditions.
  • Work with Supervisor to identify the best suited CEGEP for accreditation;
  • Seek, select, and prepare qualified instructors to implement the new program;
  • Recruit qualified students;
  • Seek funding for future implementation phases from various sources and potential partners;
  • Any other tasks deemed relevant and necessary by the Director or coordinator of Student Services.

QUALIFICATIONS:

University Bachelor’s degree in education, administration, social sciences, or related fields.

 The Board may, at its discretion, waive any or all of the afore-mentioned qualifications if it finds a suitable candidate who is a beneficiary of the James Bay and Northern Québec Agreement (JBNQA) and who accepts, as a condition of employment, to follow a training plan determined by the Board.

 REQUIREMENTS:

  • Fluency in French and a second language (either English or Inuktitut). Three languages considered an asset;
  • Visit Nunavik Sivunitsavut to understand and observe existing program;
  • Must be able to travel to Nunavik;
  • Must be willing to work independently and be in regularly communication with various organizations and partners.

 

CLASSIFICATION / SALARY / BENEFITS:

In accordance with the SPPENOM collective agreement for professionals. This position belongs to job category 2104: from $49,456 to $92,027 annually depending on qualification and experience. All benefits are prorated based on the percentage of the task.
